Sun and the old and the new

Jan 23, 2008 was a monumental day. This is the first day in over two months that we could see sunshine. Here is the sunshine hitting the top of one of the mountains surrounding Tromsø.
At last the sun! It lasted about an hour and this is as high above the horizon as it got.
This is also the day that Elder Holst left us. He was transferred to an area just north of Oslo, Romrike. Here we are at the airport with him and Elder Welch saying goodbye.
Later in the day we received a brand new missionary. The greenie from England, is Elder Guy Watts. We are in our apartment having homemade hamburgers and french fries.

Oslo and film festival

While in Oslo we went to the Institute Outreach Center and met with other Senior Couple Missionaries. Elder and Sister Sims serve in the Mission office and Elder and Sister Andersen serve as the Outreach Center couple.
Elder and Sister Schow came into the center while we were there. Another senior couple who are proselyting missionaries.
Back in Tromsø there is an annual film festival held in January. In the town center, there are tents set up with fire pits and benches to view the films shown on an ice screen.
This is the screen made of a giant ice block. Most of the films are shown in regular theaters but there are films shown on this block every day.

Move and Oslo

New Years Eve in Tromsø. The whole town is ablaze in fireworks, both private and public displays.
The move from our location of 12 years. Elders Humphrey, Holst and Welch and Sister Britannia Lomax.
The Mission President, Lynn J. Poulsen, and his wife, Ardith Poulsen in our new location.
We took a trip to Oslo on the 11th of Jan for a conference. This is the main street of Oslo, Karl Johann Gate looking toward the palace of the king.
